The notion of a public diary has always struck me as somewhat diva-esque. The word diva has always struck me as fabulous. What can I say? I'm struck.

Good Times

Considering I've only posted once, I suppose the interval between this post and my first can't be considered "unusual," but I feel like it deserves explanation anyway:

My boyfriend of eight months and I just broke up. I'm not sure whether we've broken up for good or whether we're just going to "take a break." There's not much more to say on the subject except that it's emotionally taxing, and for the time being it's my excuse for not posting in five days.

The most effective coping mechanism I've tried so far is the age-old method of not thinking about it. Currently, that involves writing in this blog and listening to Cher, who is fabulous. More often, it manifests itself in doing work. Yay for productivity.

The elections for the student group I co-run went terribly, so I guess that's been taking my mind off things too. Yay for botched elections.

First Impressions

Julie Andrews once said, "Let's start at the very beginning/a very good place to start." I believe those timeless words transcend the realm of song and penetrate to the heart of blogology.

Therefore, to begin, an explanation of the motivation to blog:

  1. I have always wanted to blog ever since I stopped thinking it was pointless.
  2. I enjoy focusing on me, and blogging is just a way to focus on myself while allowing other people to focus on me too.
  3. I'm not as self-absorbed as I sound. Don't listen to number 3.
  4. I'm taking a course called "The Gender Mystique," and my professor suggested we keep a diary. I'm using that as a weak justification for taking time to do this instead of work.
